Dr. Benishek: “It’s Time To Work On Long-Term Solutions, Not Vacations”
WASHINGTON, DC: Congressman Dan Benishek (MI-01) today released the following statement:
“Today, the House is working to pass a full year payroll tax holiday extension. I believe it is irresponsible for the Senate to leave town after passing a two month bill that will provide more uncertainty to America’s economy. Attempting to craft ‘60 day tax policy’ is reckless and will further hurt this nation’s job providers.
I agree with President Obama that not extending the payroll tax reduction for a year is “inexcusable.’” The bill passed last week in the House is a reasonable measure that accomplishes exactly what the President asked us to do.
I believe Northern Michigan citizens are rightly fed up with the delay tactics in Washington and expect to see real solutions from their lawmakers. I am hopeful the Senate will listen to the American people, return to Washington and work with the House to deliver a bipartisan, year-long extension bill to the President’s desk.”
